Precautions for electrofusion welding of HDPE pipes
1. Pipe preparation
Cutting and cleaning: Make sure the end face of the HDPE pipe is neat and flat, and use suitable tools to cut the pipe to avoid deformation of the pipe end. The welding area must be thoroughly cleaned to remove all dirt, grease and oxide layer. Use an appropriate cleaner (such as isopropyl alcohol) to clean the pipe to ensure the cleanness of the welding surface.
Remove the oxide layer: During electrofusion welding, there may be an oxide layer on the surface of the pipe, which should be removed with a scraper or pipe scraper to improve the quality of the weld. Avoid touching the surface after scraping to avoid re-contamination.
2. Alignment of pipes and electrofusion joints
Accurate alignment: During welding, the alignment of pipes and electrofusion joints is very important. Use a clamp or support device to fix the pipe to ensure that the weld joint does not shift. Improper alignment will result in uneven weld joints, which will affect the firmness of the connection.
Prevent movement: Do not move the pipe or joint during welding to avoid unnecessary stress affecting the welding quality.
3. Environmental conditions
Temperature control: The ideal welding temperature should be within the specified ambient temperature range (usually between 0°C and 45°C). Too low or too high a temperature may affect the welding effect. Cold weather may require an extended preheating time, while hot weather may require a short pause to avoid overheating.
Humidity control: The welding area should be kept dry, as moisture or humidity can affect the welding effect. Avoid welding outdoors in rainy or humid weather, or provide protective measures.
4. Calibration of welding equipment
Equipment inspection: Make sure that the electric fusion welding machine is in good working condition and that parameters such as current and voltage meet welding requirements. The equipment should be calibrated before use to ensure that its output parameters are within the specified range.
Power connection: Confirm that the electric fusion welding machine is well connected to the joint to avoid poor contact or short circuit problems. If the power supply is unstable, welding failure or poor quality of the welded joint may occur during welding.
